Savonlinna is located in eastern Finland, approximately a four-hour-drive or train journey from our capital Helsinki. Direct flights from Helsinki make it easy to travel from the capital region to this oldest city in eastern Finland.
Our city of 35,000 inhabitants is built on islands, so nature is close everywhere – even in the city centre. The historical Olavinlinna castle in the city centre, the biggest wooden church in the world in Kerimäki, the Finnish Forest Museum Lusto in Punkaharju and the national parks of Linnansaari and Kolovesi are examples of amazing attractions in the idyllic Savonlinna region!
